In light of the current climate emergency and scalating inequalities, it is imperative that we as operations management researchers actively engage in comprehending and addressing these issues. Recognizing that this situation requires a social transformation based on novel approaches, processes, and behaviors, we invite operations and supply chain management researchers to embark on research that considers how to transform technology, processes, people and relationships. Such a transformation cannot be accomplished without adopting a collaborative approach and engaging with stakeholders.

Transforming processes is key to revitalize our planet and foster positive social outcomes. It encompasses a broad range of topics, including green technologies, resource and energy effcient technologies, waste reduction and the development of new processes that facilitate the circular economy and decarbonization. Transforming people and relationships has been recognized as a critical driver of positive societal and environmental impact. For this reason, we encourage research efforts that delve into behavioral operations, leadership and the management of supply chain relationships, among other relevant areas.
